It’s hard not to wonder: Did Pine pursue ‘Star Trek’ – and Jack Ryan – because he knows his dad never quite got these star-making opportunities?
He shakes his head, furrows the eyebrows. He doesn’t need to pause before this answer. “I just don’t think of my father that way,” he says. “This is a really hard business; I’ve been incredibly lucky. Incredibly lucky. And my father never made a ‘Star Trek,’ but he’s been a successful actor for 50 years, put two children through private school and college, and has worked in every medium of our business. So I view my father as a great success, as a superstar. Because in many ways it’s much harder than when you get to sit where I am, where as long as you don’t completely fuck up, the door will stay open. I think what my father has done has been much, much, much harder.”

Look at Pike’s Expressions Here

First he’s kind of disapproving.  Got Mr. Frowny-Face on.

Then he’s looks rather weirded out, like he’s thinking “Jim, what are you doing?”

Then it’s the “I’m too old for this shit” face

Finally, there’s “Oh God, Jim” Epic-concern face

I just…I love Bruce Greenwood.  You’re supposed to be focusing on Kirk and here Bruce is doing all this subtle acting in the background regardless.  Bless him.

"What do you want to see in the next Star Trek movie?"

"… A strengthening of the relationship between McCoy and Kirk. ‘Cause at the moment I feel that perhaps a lot of what you see is almost an implied friendship, where I think that it’s a really deep friendship…"

In all seriousness, being that he’s a big fan of TOS and knows a lot about it, Karl could teach the screenwriters a thing or two about the dynamic between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. That “triumvirate” feeling just doesn’t seem to be there.

Just my opinion.   :)

I’m taking a break from Tumblr for a while. Feel like I need to focus on other things. Not that I won’t miss staying up to date on my men, but I need a break…

See y’all on the flip side!
